Timing Chain Replacement and Adjustment

TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT COST FROM $1,350.00 INC. GST

At Autoland, we offer timing chain replacements with expertise and quality parts. We can also provide precision timing chain adjustments, ensuring correct timing and proper tension to keep your engine at peak performance.

We install complete late model timing chain kits, including new chain, gears, tensioner and guides. All kits are fitted and prices include GST.

The timing chain runs on toothed sprockets—similar to a bicycle chain—between the crankshaft and the camshaft. In most engines, the chain is held in position by hardened plastic chain guides and is kept tight by oil-pressure fed ratcheting tensioners.

A loose chain could cause major damage to your engine, especially if it jumps off one of the sprockets. If a chain comes off, pistons could hit valves and destroy the engine.

WE'VE ADDRESSED TIMING CHAIN PROBLEMS ON MANY MAKES & MODELS

One of the first signs of a timing stretching can be the check engine light coming on, This is not the computer telling you the chain is stretched. Rather, it is telling you that the camshaft or crankshaft sensor is faulty. Normally, this will appear as code P0340 (Camshaft Position Sensor) or P0335 (Crankshaft Position Sensor). The sensors are normally fine. What the computer is seeing is that the top and bottom of the sensors (Cam & Crank) are not timed correctly and it, therefore, assumes the sensor must be faulty.

Actually, it is the timing chain that’s stretched past the point of the auto tensioner's adjustment and beyond. Now the camshaft timing lags behind, causing hard starting, lack of power, misfiring, occasional rattling noises, and activating the engine warning light on the dash. We have found this to be common in Nissan models, as well as some Mazdas and Toyotas.

We have replaced stretched Timing chains in:

• 2004 -2008 Nissan Maxima vehicles
• 2004 – 2009 Nissan Presage vehicles
• 2004 – 2006 Nissan Skyline vehicles (with the VQ35 engine)
• 2005 – 2007 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles
